Goals Ablaze! It was the desire of LCMS World Mission to give this vision away—to ignite a spark that would become a mission movement of individuals, groups, congregations, etc., all committed to the goal of reaching 100 million unreached and uncommitted people with the Gospel by 2017, which is the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The Northern Illinois District has set a goal as well. It was a goal to equip, train and motivate:
to boldly share their faith with those who don't know Jesus Christ. In support of those larger goals, one of the goals at Immanuel/Sanctuary is to have every congregation member involved in groups ablaze. Why should you get involved? Because it will help to improve your faith walk. It will help you to carry the message of Christ's love to those who don't know it. It will build stronger ties within the congregation. The Immanuel/Sanctuary Ablaze team has set another goal. A goal that will stretch us if we are to reach it. That goal is to reach 10,000 contacts for Christ in the year 2007. 10,000 may seem impossible but it is actually a realistic goal for our congregation. Remember it is not the objective to convert 10,000 people or drag 10,000 non-believers to service with us on Sunday. The objective is to talk about and share our faith and the message of Christ's love with those who don't know him. We hope to have a total of 30 small group bible studies to equip 500 members to share the message with that 10,000. Really that is only 20 people each!
